Angry Birds Part 3...This Little Piggy

I used to think this little piggy had a face only a mother could love until I let my 4 year old nephew pick from my Red Bird, Yellow Bird, and Large Pig cards.
He went straight for the Pig card, grabbed it, and gave it a big hug!
Your little Valentines or birthday boys and girls will love this card too!

What you will need:
1 blank notecard 5x7
brown stamp pad in to ink edges
blue ink or chalk (or use my eyeshadow trick)
gluestick

Cardstock in these colors:
2 complimentary shades of green - one slightly lighter than the other
white
icy blue
black

Cricut cartridge George and Basic Shapes

Background
Use your paper cutter to cut out a 4 & 5/8 x 6 & 1/2 piece of black paper

More Ice

I'm too cheap budget conscience to buy chalk or ink pads in random colors, so I get eyeshadow at the dollar store or inexpensive eye shadow multi-packs with a lot of fun colors to use for edging.  It works great!  Just make sure it is all rubbed in so the color doesn't transfer.

Snow
Color: white
Amount: 1
Size: 2 x 6 & 1/2 inches
Cut the strip out on the paper cutter and cut out the snowy bumps freehand.

Almost finished!  Place your piggy's eyes on first and then add the nose, mouth, ears, and eyebrows. Make sure you like the placement and then glue!

Glue the black background and snow to your background.  Center Pig and add the ice around him.  Measure twice, glue once!

Have fun giving these cards away!

Hair
Put the bigger shape in the center and glue the smaller shapes on either side.

Tail Feathers

Place the bigger feather in the center and the smaller ones on either side, just like the hair.

Beak
Trace a hooked beak on the Oval 2 shape.

Cut and glue to the top of the beak to the triangle.

Trim the excess paper.

Now put your angry little guy together!

Start from the belly and work your way up to the beak and the eyes.

Add those angry eyebrows and feathers and you are done!

For instructions on how to make the slingshot, click HERE and scroll way down!

Glue your bird in place and make sure he isn't too tall to fit in an envelope.

Add the grass and make someone's day with a one of a kind card!

Putting the Card Together
When all of the shapes are cut out, some assembly is required.  :)

Body
Layer the tan circle over the red circle and get an idea of how wide you want the belly to be.

While they are still layered, flip them over and mark the width on the back.

Cut out the tan belly and glue it to the red circle.  Make sure you use it as a template before gluing if you are making more than one Red Bird.

Beak
To make the beak, layer the oval on top of the diamond and trim off the excess paper.

Hair
Put the bigger shape in the center and glue the smaller shapes on either side.
Tail Feathers
Place the bigger feather in the center and the smaller ones on either side, just like the hair.

Putting it all together!
Start from the bottom and work your way up.  I put the belly on first and then add the beak, layer the eyes, one slightly over the other, then add the eyeballs and eyebrows.

Finally, I add the hair and tail feathers. Now you've got yourself one angry bird.

Slingshot
Ink around the edge of the Y to give it a worn look.  Then, using hot glue, glue down the end of your hemp or twine and wrap it around one side of the Y four times.  Cut the hemp and glue the other end in place.  Repeat on the other side of the Y.

Place the bird inside the slingshot and measure around the bird from one side of the slingshot to the other.  Cut at the desired length (give yourself some extra length just in case) and then cut two more pieces the same length.

Tie the three pieces in a knot and glue them to the back of the Y. On the Cuttin' Up font I glued them to the thinner side of the Y.

Then put the bird back in the slingshot and pull the twine snugly around the bird. Measure and glue the remaining twine to the underside of the Y.

Glue your sky blue background onto your notecard and get ready to glue. It's almost finished!  Place the bird and the slingshot on the card so you'll know where to glue.
(If the bird's hair sticks up too high, he won't fit in an envelope.)

Trim the bottom of the slingshot and glue the grass over it.  Trim off the extra grass and you're done!

Glue Red Bird in and mission accomplished!

I recommend an Angry Birds assembly line for this project.  Cut out multiples of all the parts and make some extras.  Once you get all of the parts cut out, putting the cards together goes really fast.

Have fun!
